BIO

Jarek Dabrowski is a freelance guitarist, composer, and music producer based in Toronto, Canada. Aside solo work, his performing and arranging credits include collaborations with numerous jazz, rock, and world music artists in Canada, Europe, and Asia, both live and in studio. His writing credits include an underscore to a documentary film Presence, arrangements for albums, and independent releases.

His live projects as a band leader in Toronto include Ethnocity (charted #8 on CJSW FM in March 2010), his own jazz quartet, and a rock formation War of Squares. He is a founding member of Yellow River Ensemble and a former member of the Toronto Chinese Orchestra. In addition to leading his own live and studio projects, he is active in Toronto as a session musician, accompanist, and arranger working with solo artists and commercial bands of all genres. Over the recent years Jarek has been featured as a performer and/or composer on CBC Radio 1, Global TV, Fairchild TV, OMNI TV, Rogers TV, CIUT FM, and radio stations in the USA, Portugal, Spain, Russia, Argentina, and Poland. He has been a guest performer at music workshops at the University of Toronto, York University, Ryerson University, and Ontario public schools.

At the present, Jarek is a music instructor and faculty member at Toronto Centennial College, a music tutor and instructor at York University’s Music Department where he is also a Ph.D. candidate, and an ensemble, music theory, and music history instructor at both the Ontario Academy of Music and the Royal School of Music in Toronto.
